September 26, 2009 - 4 Seasons Recreational Club Monthly Meeting

President Marvin Thompson resigned effective 09/07/2009. Vice President Jon Meteraud presided.

Secretary’s report was approved as read on a Dennis/Mary motion.

Treasurer’s report was approved as read on a Mark/Doug motion. Net profit from Food and Fun 2009 was $8,448.19. Net profit from 2008 Food and Fun was $8,146.23.

Old Business

Nominations were held for the office of Secretary and Treasurer. No new nominations.

Charles McDermott was nominated for the office of President on a Floyd/Doug motion.

Can coolers were sold at Food and Fun, but we still have a lot left that we can sell again next year.

The cake walk and 50/50 raffle were new events at Food and Fun. The cake walk earned $280 and the 50/50 raffle generated a total of $1,060, with $530 for the club.

A special thank you to Jimmy Fudally who donated the boat trip for one of the raffle boards.

Mark reported that NW trails paid approximately $8,000 for signs. Various clubs donated money to help with the cost. Mark requested that we donate $200 toward signs. Although none of the signs were for our trails, we may need some in the future. A Mark/Floyd motion to donate $200 to NW trails for signs was approved.

Mark will represent our club at the NW trails meetings which are the first Monday of the month. Jon will also attend .

Park-N-Ride – The Town of Wascott graveled the driveway. There was discussion about signs. Doug reported that to put signs on Highway 53, the DOT will require the lot be graveled and a permanent outhouse be built on the sight. It was agreed that we would not pursue signs on Highway 53. Mark suggested we add the P-N-R to the maps next year. Doug would like to get a land use permit from the DNR to sign Red Lake. With permission from the Town of Wascott, we will look for money in the spring through grants, donations, etc. to help gravel the rest of the lot. A Mark/Wayne motion was approved for the club to purchase and install 2 Park-N-Ride signs if it was O.K. with the Town Board.

New Business

Ken and Sharon Larson donated a US Flag. The club will send them a thank you card.

The ad on the map for NW trails will cost $125. This will be split with WTDA. A Dennis/Mark motion to pay for the ad was approved.

A Mark/Doug motion was approved to purchase a book of tickets for the AWSC raffle. We will purchase 10 tickets for $10.

Mark suggested a winter ride to Siren. He proposed the ride be the last weekend in January. He will start to make arrangements and report back with details at future meetings.

Mark proposed holding a snowmobile safety class between Christmas and New Years when the kids are on break from school. He will discuss with Patti.

Trail maintenance will be after the October 31 meeting weather permitting. Jon will have the grader ready next week. We need more steel posts, fencing and gates which Jon will purchase. We need to notify Mark at the county when we will be doing trail maintenance to avoid any potential problems with us having vehicles on the trail.

Dennis suggested changing the color of the tickets for 2010 Food and Fun. He overheard some people discussing having “found” tickets that they will use next year. It was agreed that alternating ticket colors each year is a good idea and will be easier to do since we are now using only one door prize ticket.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am on a Wayne/Dennis motion.
