May 30, 2015 - 4 Seasons Recreational Club Monthly Meeting
Secretary’s Report – Correction that Jon did not order the lime and fertilizer for the ball field.
Minutes were approved on a Loren/Mike motion.
Treasurer’s Report was approved as read on a Deb/Jean motion.
Bill has been grooming regularly with the new drag and reports that trails are in good condition. He has
received several positive comments about trail conditions since he has been using the drag. It cuts grooming
time and does a better job. A Bill/Jon motion passed to purchase the drag for up to $15,000. A Mike/Jon
motion passed to use $5,000 from the Maintenance and Repair account, and the balance from the general fund.
Jon reported that Haakinsons have not been available to do the trail reroute. He will follow up with them again.
The club had a table at the Flea Market on Memorial Day weekend to promote membership and provide information
about the club. We sold club clothing, raffle tickets and about 100 hot dogs in addition to passing out
membership cards and educating people about the new Cap Step program.
Thank you to Kay, Marlene and Doris for painting the picnic tables at the park.
Youth turkey hunt was on 5/16. They used our building and we donated pizzas for one of their meals. They only
saw 1 bird because it was too late in the season, but they had a good time and were thankful for the use of our building.
Chuck asked about reroofing the biffy and the pavilion. Jon felt is should be part of the town budget as we
have done a 50/50 cost share with the town in the past for similar projects.
Mark negotiated the final prices for the shed. An 8x10 shed with a 4 ft door is $1845 delivered and the county
requires a building permit at a cost of $80. We need to remove the old shed and prep the site before calling
for delivery. Jon will be in Duluth and will get the building permit.
The ball park needs to be tilled and lime and fertilizer applied. A work day is scheduled for Friday, June 5.
Road clean up is today after the meeting. Mike is concerned with road safety and the threat of tics. If
we continue to participate in the program, he suggested researching a different road route that is closer
and not as high traffic.
Club members presented their ideas for a club logo. They will be modified based on suggestions and presented
at the next meeting for a vote.
Meat Raffle volunteers for 6/6 and 6/20. No was present is available, so I will email our members.
Food & Fun – Posters have been ordered and should be here next week. I received suggestions after
last years event that we may want to consider serving pork in addition to beef. I will get prices
from Dan for both pork and beef cooked. Mark has reserved the children’s rides. We need to start
collecting door prizes and raffle board prizes.
Meeting Adjourned on a Jon/Loren motion.
