May 30, 2009 - 4 Seasons Recreational Club Monthly Meeting

The Secretary’s report from April 25, 2009, was read. Tim had one correction in that the STEP money was mostly going to the AWSC with only a small amount going to the state. Minutes, with correction, were approved on a Charles/Doug motion.

The treasurer’s report was approved on a Tim/Kay motion.

Old Business

We received two bids to clear brush for the Park and Ride. Al Makilla bid $2,200 and Steve Balczik bid $1,200. Steve Balczik was awarded the job and will start Tuesday. He will do the clearing according to requirements of Mark Schroeder of the Forestry Department.

A request was made to extend the ATV trail by Lynch Road. Charles reported that the trail cannot cross Highway 53, so the club cannot support the request. The request had been referred to Mark Schroder and he was working with the people who submitted the request.

The benches have been installed at the park and aglime has been put on the field. We only bought two loads instead of the 3 that was originally estimated. We had received a grant from ECE based on the total project cost of $3,380. After purchase of the benches and aglime there was approximately $475 remaining which will be used to replace boards on the bleacher benches. Motion by Mary, second by Mic to use $475 to purchase 2x12 planks needed for the benches at the park.

Doug reported that the town board has not had further discussion about the lease agreement between the 4 Seasons Rec Club and the Town of Wascott. It will be discussed at the June 2 Town of Wascott meeting.

The club had a successful road clean up of Highway 53 on May 16, 2009.

Jon purchased oil for the grader but not tires. Mark was contacted by the dealer about the groomer and drag. The sale of the groomer to the other party did not go through, so they are now willing to split the groomer and the drag. The drag is available for $2,500. Mark will go look at it and purchase if it’s in good condition.

Get-Er-Done Club of Gordon will have an ATV and Snowmobile Swap Meet and ATV Pull on Saturday August 22, 2009. There will be a $5 admission.

The club did not sell hot dogs at the flea market which is held at the Stop A Sec on the Saturday before Memorial day this year. The community club did have a sale of donated items and raised more than $800.

New Business

Doug will meet with the Public Safety Committee so they don’t make decisions regarding shutting down trails without the Conservation Committee’s knowledge, as per the town ordinance for ATV road routes. Charles explained that the 4 Seasons Rec Club has not asked for additional trails. Several years ago, the town board asked that all citizen requests for trails be submitted through the club. If the request is for a trail that feeds to an existing trail, the club supports the request and brings it to the town board for approval. All trail requests come from the tax payers and not the club.

Tim reported that the Cross Town Trail in Superior on the west side of the golf course will be moved closer to the golf course because the City does not own the land, the railroad does.

Tim needs an invoice from Steve Balczik and a cancelled check by the end of June to submit to the State for reimbursement. Also discussed the purchase of gravel for the Park and Ride. Charles suggests we should give priority to the purchase of a groomer. Doris suggested applying for a grant from ECE to help with the cost of the Park and Ride. Tim asked what was to be done with the stumps from the Park and Ride. Mark Schroeder would rather have them removed rather then buried. A Charles/Mary motion was passed to make a request to the town board to dump stumps in the town stump dump.

There will be an ATV class on June 5 and 6. Mic, Kay and Doris will bring snacks.

Mary submitted a bill from Computers & Crafts for $162.50 to print raffle tickets for Food and Fun. A Mic/Willard motion to pay was passed.

Mary received an EZ Pay form from ECE for the electric bill. A Charles/Doug motion was passed to set up payment to be automatically withdrawn from our checking account.

Patti wrote a letter explaining the club’s tax exempt status. If people are asking for donations from businesses for Food and Fun, they may include the letter. Businesses may be more willing to donate.

A motion by Charles, second by Mic to adjourn at 11:00.
