March 28, 2009 - 4 Seasons Recreational Club Monthly Meeting

Old Business

• We have the rest of the wall panels to finish the building – the cost was $750.58 with $180.00 rebate money from the insulation helping to pay for it. There will be a work group on Tuesday/Wednesday to put the panels up.



• There were no violations on the SWORDS Run or Booya Day for Cozy. Only registrations were being checked.



• Chuck talked to Bernie on Lynch Road and explained our position about Lynch Road not leading to a county trail. They will contact the Forestry and see if they can’t work something out about hooking up with Trail #41.



• We have 2 requests to open town roads to ATVs. One is Whatever Rd. and the other is a short portion of Chipmunk Rd. Motion by Charles/Bob to bring these to the next town meeting for approval and to be put on the ATV road ordinance.



• All 21 students passed the Snowmobile Safety class in early March. Randy gave us $75.00 to put into our account to help with giving these classes. Mark will work on the ATV class and then a hunter’s safety class and be a qualified instructor for all 3 of the classes. That is great.



• Lights for the out house and front of the building will be a summer project.



• We discussed door prize tickets again and Mary had sample printed. She will print about 600 for F & F Day.



• Marv reported that NWTA will fund up to $2,000.00 for the Summer ATV map.



• The benches for the park went up to $615.00 each. We voted to proceed with the order on a Mark/Bob motion. I have the name of Park and Rec. person in Superior; I will contact him to see if he can give us some guidance on what we need to do to prep the ball field for the aglime.



• Jon asked for a club donation for the Youth Turkey Hunt for next weekend for cookies and water. Stop a Sec will donate pop and some of the businesses are doing pizzas. Motion by Jon, second by Charles to give him the go ahead and get the goodies. Motion carried.



• The county is still working on opening up some county roads to ATV traffic.

New Business

• Marv explained a plan for a Park and Ride to be put on the corner of “T” and Crystal Lake Road. He has the support of WTDA and the Town of Wascott; I did send in a letter in support even though we had not had a meeting – he needed it last week. Steve Balscik has given Marv a proposal for $1500.00 to clear and burn the trees before frost is out. We decided to get a bid from Al Makela since he has done some work for us in the past. Douglas County is favorable about the project and some future money for gravel. They have a meeting on March 30th to discuss this project. We also discussed the access road extensively and it was decided to go there after the meeting to determine the best way for a road. Charles made a motion to spend up to $1,500 to clear and burn the tress, provided the county approves, and do no more until the groomer situation is under control. Mark suggested that we consider using a local person first if the bid is within 10% of already proposed cost and made a second to the motion. Motion carried.



• Motion by Doris, second by Mark to purchase three baskets for the Easter Egg Hunt at Crystal Lake Bar. Motion carried.



• Charles discussed a campaign ad in the paper suggesting that we should pay a lease for the use of the building if a new town chairman takes over. We discussed this at some length; we are covered under the town’s insurance and it doesn’t cost them any more for this building. We have had an agreement with the town since we built and don’t feel that we should be required to pay a lease. We put much money and lots of time and work into maintaining the park. We paid for the building, and we pay the electric each month. We agreed to stand firm on this issue when/if it comes up.
