July 26, 2008 - 4 Seasons Recreational Club Monthly Meeting

Old Business

• We now have our 501(c) (4) status. We will be eligible for grants.


• We received a Thank You from Gordon Good Neighbor days for help at the 5 K race.


• Charles did not check on insurance yet.


• I ordered items for Septemberfest and Summer Stampede, and I also got new hats. They are $15.00 each. I will be ordering again soon if anyone is interested.


• We have posters and tickets that still aren’t out.


• Pop has been purchased: Give your bills to Mary to be reimbursed. We will need a place for aluminum cans this year. Mark has a couple of barrels he can fix up.


• Gordon GN Days did not do a 50/50 raffle. Dennis suggested that it was more work than it was worth.


• We have 4 new picnic tables. Circle Pines put them together to use for fund raiser.


• Planter is complete thanks to Jon and helpers. We are waiting for Steve Trainor to install the sprinkler.


• Track Inc. sent info on another groomer, but it was 1 year older and $18,000 more expensive.


• Mark informed the club that flag needs to be replaced and Ken Larsen has offered to buy a new one. Hopefully we can get it up by F and F.


• Groomer still needs maintenance work.


• Charles built a 4 compartment container to hold pop.

New Business

• Tim: A letter has been sent to Highway Department to request addition of 17 roads on ATV routes be put on their agenda. They will need people and letters of support when it comes to the next step in the process. He also talked about property tax on groomers which needs changing and the Amery to Dresser route which is closed to all traffic. Deer season will be 2 in October and a Dec. T Zone Dec. 11^th to the 14^th. Trails will open after gun season.


• Tim sent a bill to county for grooming; we will get a check for that and supplemental should be figured out by December 1^st. Many counties are requesting it this year which were never into it before. There is no money for new snowmobile trails.


• Charles started a discussion on the addition to our building since we are not purchasing a groomer at this time. The addition needs to be done to store it anyway. The bathrooms will be a separate issue at another time. Motion by Doug, second by Chuck Y. to make a decision, set the timing and invest the money now before the costs go up. Motion carried. Mark will get a figure for tin and studs for a 14 ft. high x 30 to 40 foot long addition. He will explore several options for the next meeting.


• Motion by Dennis, second by Doug to purchase a fire extinguisher for the building. Motion carried.


• Tim said Rookey/Mertze has saved the NWTA and Solon Club some money on insurance and it is worth checking out.


• Food and Fun:


• A motion was made by Doug, second by Dennis to purchase potato salad from Aleda (Mrs. Gerry’s). She has a place to keep it until Saturday.


• I will investigate can coolers with our name to sell that day. Maybe I can get a combination of foam and collapsible.


• We need wheel prizes and raffle items. Keep your eyes open for deals. We will do same beer as last year and need 2 cases 16 oz. cups.


• We will do the corn at McDermott’s since the beer wagon is there anyway.


• We will check Kohel’s for another battery car thing.


• Jon will take care of potties and cleaning the septic at the bathrooms.


• We will get the same meat 125 – 130#.

Next meeting is August 23^rd.
