Bills and Correspondence
AWSC annual convention is March 28-30. A Dick/Jon motion passed to designate Tim Johnson as our proxy.
Received raffle tickets from Lake States Resource Alliance. It was agreed that we would not purchase any tickets.
Get-Er-Done Club sledding party is February 8 at the North Shore Resort.
The groomer show is February 5-6 in St Germain.
We received a thank you letter from Patti McDermitt for donation to and participation at the Children’s Christmas Party.
Jean will be unable to attend our monthly meetings until May. She has asked that we discussed the start time
for Food and Fun. She would like to get posters for the car show printed and distributed within the next couple
of months, and would like confirmation if the start time will change.
Mark, Jon and Dick have been grooming regularly. They report we could use more
snow to keep the trails fresh. If you see your groomers in the community, be
certain to thank them for the time they donate to keep our trails in good riding
A Doris/Bill motion was passed to donate $1,000 to the Wascott Fire Department. They
will use the money to complete the flag pole project that was started last year.
A Doris/Bill motion was passed to donate $1,000 to Gordon-Wascott EMS. They will use
the money to purchase new stethoscopes.
Bill suggested that we create a poster listing the donations that the club has made to
the community over the years to post at Food and Fun. This will be a thank you to those
attending so they know what their donations have allowed the club to accomplish.
The request to open County Road T to Pogos for a trail route has gone to the county for
review. We should have their decision in February or March and it should be signed and open for use in May.
The winter ride is scheduled for February 8 and will leave from the Stop-A-Sec
at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join on sled or by car.
Swords Poker Run is February 22. Volunteers from the club will be at our
local businesses to help stamp cards. Boops at Chipmunk; Hansons at Circle Pines;
Jack at Lookout (a second volunteer is welcome); Grammonds at Crystal Lake Bar;
Youngquists at Viewpoint.
General Casualty Insurance Company has non-renewed our general liability and property
insurance as they are no longer insuring snowmobile clubs. We received a quote from
West Bend Mutual Insurance Company in which the premium is slightly lower for the same
A Mark/Jon motion passed to purchase coverage from West Bend and also purchase liquor
liability insurance for Food and Fun for $253 per year. A motion also passed to add
physical damage coverage to the drag for $150.
Boops have volunteered to work the meat raffle on Feb 1. We still need a volunteer
to sell tickets at the Feb 15 meat raffle.
Chuck took pictures of the signs on our trail that need to be updated. Mark will get new signs made.
Dick suggested investing some of the clubs funds in improvements to our building
and trails. Some ideas have been to purchase gravel for the trails, create a display
board outside our building, install a new play set in the park, etc. These projects
will begin this spring.
